About the Pastor

Reverend Michael Joseph Russo was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood on May 28, 1989, by His Holiness Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Basilica, Rome, Italy. He studied at Holy Trinity Seminary, Dallas, Texas; the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium; and the Gregorian and Angelicum Universities in Rome.

Father's first assignment was as Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, LA. In 1993 he was appointed to his first pastorate at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Opelousas. He arrived at the Church of the Assumption here in Franklin in June of 1996.

From the Heart of the Pastor

I am delighted to put the Church of the Assumption on the web. We have grown in so many ways over the past four years. The pages of this site tell a beautiful faith story and will hopefully provide inspiration and helpful information for those who are seeking to learn more about the Catholic Faith. There is the opportunity to "take a peek" at our parish organizations and our various apostolates which reach out to so many people. Also, information is provided for those who may be struggling in a marriage; those who are grieving; or those who want to know the "how's and why's" of various sacramental preparation classes, such as baptisms, confirmation, and weddings.
