Religious Education:
Father's Classes
Every year an adult religious education program is held. Topics vary from year to year. This allows parishioners to grow in their faith outside of the context of the Mass.
CCD
The Church of the Assumption's CCD -- Confraternity of Christian Doctrine -- is directed by Ms. Darlene Scelfo, Religion Coordinator. CCD classes provide religious instruction for those children in the parish who do not attend our Catholic Schools. Classes are held each Wednesday.
The CCD office is located in the upstairs section of the Parish Center. The phone number is 828-9499. Our parish CCD motto: To know Him is to love Him!
RCIA
R.C.I.A.: What does it mean? The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a process by which non-baptized persons are received into the Catholic Church (called a catechumen); or baptized persons of another denomination are received into the Catholic Church (candidate); or adult baptized Catholics prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
First Communion
First Communion Sunday for the second grade children is a very special day in their lives. The children have been taught the importance of receiving Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. They have been prepared through lessons and prayers by their teachers and their parents.
Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is conferred by the anointing of holy oils on the forehead, while the words, "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" are spoken. . . .
