Alcohol and Drug Abuse Awareness
ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS
Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are for everyone interested in the illness of alcoholism. There are meetings for the recovering alcoholic or person with a drinking problem. It's a place where a topic is chosen and members tell of their experiences, strengths and hopes. The 12 steps of A.A. are studied and suggested as a program of recovery. Members relate his or her experience with alcohol and their recovery. There are also meetings for the spouse or friend of the alcoholic or problem drinker.

THE NATIONAL CATHOLIC COUNCIL ON ALCOHOLISM AND RELATED DRUG PROBLEMS, INC.
The NCCA has worked quietly in the Church for more than 50 years. They are the only agency of the Church focused exclusively on alcohol and drug abuse awareness, prevention and treatment.
NCCA has a quarterly publication, Hope Journal, which contains a message for young Catholics about drugs and alcohol, and a message for Catholic parents, who need help with what to say and do. There are stories of hope because someone you may know about doesn't have much hope: a spouse or a child or a parent may be drinking or using.
